Fresh Cherry Chocolate Chip Frozen Yogurt

School doesn’t start back up for my kids for a couple of weeks and I am already exhausted. Two a day soccer practices began this week for my son and my daughter is doing a summer band practice. If you are looking for me, you can find me in my car. As much as I don’t want my son to grow up, it would be nice if he was driving. :D My own personal torture…not wanting my kids to get older, but happy to see them reach new milestones. My guys are growing too fast! Just over the summer, they have grown so much! Both of my kids are way taller than I am. It’s actually kind of funny, I have to ask them to bend down or lower their heads, so I can fix their hair. My daughter loves having some kind of braid or twist in her hair; now I find that I’m getting arm cramps from holding them up trying to fix her hair. LOL

School starting means Fall isn’t too far away. I’m already beginning to notice the temperatures dropping more at night into the high 40′s! That means I gotta take advantage of our summertime! No better way than with Fresh Cherry Chocolate Chip Frozen Yogurt…

Cherries

These guys are packed with antioxidants and phytonutrients!  That beautiful ruby-red color of Cherries indicates they are full of anthocyanins which, help protect your heart. Cherries also have a cholesterol-lowering compounds. Cherries have sight-protecting phytonutrients lutein and zeaxanthin. Another bonus is, cherries contain compounds that have anti-inflammatory properties, which have been shown to reduce symptoms of arthritis.

Cherries are a good source of Vitamin A, C, and K. They are also a great source of fiber and beneficial minerals such as magnesium, potassium, and zinc.

How to Pick

Unlike some other fruits, Cherries do not ripen after being picked. Be sure to choose firm, plump, shiny cherries with green stems. Cherries lose their flavor and firmness in warm air, so it’s best to buy them chilled and refrigerate them unwashed as soon as you get home.

Fresh Cherry Frozen Yogurt

I had no idea how much I would love cherry yogurt until I made this Fresh Cherry Chocolate Chip Frozen Yogurt. Just look at how beautiful it is! No food coloring needed here, this beautiful shade of pink comes straight from the fresh cherries. Using fresh ingredients is always going to make your food taste better. I last used cherries to make these delicious kolaches. My all time favorite way to use cherries is in an easy to make fruit crisp.

  1. OMG! This is gonna be one awesome weekend with this one, TY!

    • Thanks! Best part of this is you really don’t need an ice cream maker. I have mixed right into the container, freeze, and stir every hour until it is to your liking.

  2. Wow this looks so creamy and delicious!!! I could totally go for a scoop (or two… or three) right now.

  3. Cherry frozen yogurt is my favourite!! And the chocolate chips make it EVEN better. Yours look so so creamy I’d never have said it is almost fat free. I love how fresh and healthy this is :-)

    • You are so right, this yogurt is very creamy! I love using 0% fat yogurt. You get the flavor and creaminess combine that with some mix-ins you can create so many different things. Definitely makes me feel better about having this frozen treat :)
