White Chocolate Vanilla Latte

“Baby, it’s cold outside”… I love that song and it always seems to stick in my head right around this time of the year. So, when it’s cold outside there is no better time for a nice warm cup of White Chocolate Vanilla Latte…

I admit it…I am addicted to caffeine. So every morning is a great time for coffee. I am like a robot. I wake up and head straight for the Keurig. Well, this morning my alarm went off and instead of getting out of bed I decided that I would lay in bed for 5 more minutes. Ever done that? Um, 5 minutes turned into 30 minutes!! My son came into my room and asked if was a snow day (aka no school). Aaahhhh!  I jump out of bed and I have 5 minutes to get him to school on time.  Errr, 5 minutes= no time for coffee!

The thing with caffeine is once you have it regularly, you need a larger quantity to feel its effects. You see, we have these receptors on our brain that normally get filled with adenosine, which make us tired. Caffeine occupies those receptors blocking adenosine, so you don’t feel tired. Problem is adenosine really wants to occupy a receptor so…we make more receptors!  Ahhh, more receptors mean we need more caffeine to beat adenosine to all those receptors. That’s why it is so easy to be addicted to caffeine!

Caffeine does have benefits such as…

  • It can help keep you more alert if you are sleep deprived
  • Caffeine can improve performance during endurance exercise
  • Caffeine contracts blood vessels to relieve the pressure of headaches
  • For non-regular users, it can increase mental stimulation

Now, if you want to get fancy you can froth your own milk. Just pour a quarter cup of milk into a small jar with a lid. Seal it tightly and shake vigorously for a minute. Remove lid and place in microwave for 15-20 seconds. Voila! …frothed milk.  I use fat-free milk and it works every time.

Once my kids have made it to school, it is time for some coffee. This White Chocolate Vanilla Latte is a nice treat for a stressful morning.  Once you make this you won’t need to visit that coffee shop that uses syrups for flavoring anymore. I love that this White Chocolate Vanilla Latte is pure natural goodness.

  1. It’s been really cold here lately too but luckily this weekend it’s finally supposed to warm up. This white chocolate latte sounds fantastic and just what I need to warm up:) Great tip for frothing your own milk too, thanks for sharing Cindy and hope you bundle up and stay warm :)

    • I’m hoping it will warm up here too. It seems like the snow will never melt. Lol thankfully it’s perfect for warm beverages and comfort food weather :)

  2. This looks perefect for the extremely cold weather we’ve had in the Toronto area this winter. I’m just like you with my morning coffee addiciton. I figure as long as I keep it to 2 cups in the am it’s OK. I love the addition of the frothed milk! Stay warm :)

    • Oh you have some seriously cold weather! I’d need an extra cup 😀 Funny for the longest time I was thinking I was having a “cup” then measured and found it was nearly 2 cups! After that going back for seconds was nearly impossible. No wonder I’m addicted!! 😀

  3. Ok, you are officially my Hero of the Day! I love coffee, too … the smell, the taste, and (yes, yes, I admit it!) that lovely little wake-up kick! As Gretchen can tell you, I’m pretty much not happy unless I’m operating at a completely energized full throttle! And, as much as you’ve read our blog, I think you know that I kinda have a thing for white chocolate! Love, this! Shall I mail your “Hero of the Day” medal or ship it FedEx!?!? 😀

    • Thanks! I’m gonna list that under my accolades 😀
Sometimes it’s sad how much I need the coffee. It really wakes me up and when I don’t have it…you definitely know it cause you’ll find me curled up on the sofa asleep. Lol :)

  4. Bring on the warm beverages! Especially if caffeine and white chocolate are included hehe. I’m back to school now, and with all the exams and whatsoever, I think I’ll need a couple of mugs of this stuff. It looks glorious! And thanks for the tip on how to make the frothed milk, I’ve always wanted to make my own! ;–)

    • Oh my gosh, I’m the same. When I’m at school I need that extra caffeine to keep my going. Frothing the milk is so easy. Just don’t fill the jar more than half or it will overflow in your microwave.

  5. I’m with you Cindy – the first thing I do is stumble downstairs straight to the Kuerig! I have to admit, this looks absolutely FABULOUS, and that was such a great tip on frothing milk! I did not know that! Thanks for sharing. Pinned!

    • Doesn’t that Keurig makes coffee making so easy?! Which is very important when you “need” coffee. 😀 Thanks for pinning!

  6. Baby, it is cold outside. And warm drinks are what keep me going. This one sounds delish!

    • Melanie, I need some exclamation points after it’s cold outside. 😀 I opened the front door and bitterly cold wind hit me. Burr! I doubling up on hot drinks. Stay warm my friend 😀
