Strawberries N’ Cream Oatmeal

Strawberries N' Cream Oatmeal | Pick Fresh Foods

I love breakfast! So much so that, I went to bed last night dreaming of what I would have in the morning. A bowl of oatmeal…loaded with sweet bright red strawberries and creamy yogurt. Yep, that would be it! Now, if you know me, you know I love my sleep. My guys are night owls, but not me. I’m the first in pjs, laying in bed, and love to sleep in. With thoughts of Strawberries N’ Cream Oatmeal stirring in my head…this is one of the first times I actually want sleep to go by fast!

I say it all the time…I love oatmeal. My love for oatmeal began when I was a kid. I loved those little bags of Quaker Instant Oatmeal. They were one thing I could make on my own and Strawberries N’ Cream was always my favorite.

But, now I think of those little bags with sad, dehydrated strawberries and know I can make my own delicious Strawberries N’ Cream Oatmeal.

Strawberries are among my most favorite fruits. A long time ago, we lived in California and near our home where strawberry fields. I would love to drive pass those fields with the windows rolled down. The air was full of the sweet scent of fresh berries. It was magical!

Strawberries have been studied for years and their health benefits are fantastic! Strawberries are a deliciously rich source of vitamin C. This vitamin C functions as an antioxidant which can help prevent oxidative damage to cells. Strawberries also have heart health benefits. They can help reduce the risk of hypertension and inflammation which can lower your risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Hot creamy old-fashioned oats with firm, sweet strawberries, and a dollop of creamy Greek yogurt is my childhood favorite elevated to adulthood. Oats provide whole grain fiber and Greek yogurt has protein, combined together to keep you feeling and ready to meet the day.

  1. Oh my goodness I’m the same way and love breakfast – especially oatmeal and granola and think about it before going to bed too haha:) The fresh strawberries and Greek yogurt look so so good with your bowl of oatmeal and – love this healthy breakfast!

    • That’s funny that you are are that too Kelly. I’m not like that with other meals. It actually takes me quite a while to decide what to make for dinner everyday. This oatmeal with the yogurt is so delicious!

  2. As soon as I read this I immediately thought of those little packets of the Quaker oatmeal!! And yes … those were really sad! I never chose the fruit flavors, I think I was always worried it wouldn’t rehydrate and it would be weird and tough. And not not yummy!
But this looks SO delicious! With REAL strawberries – perfect!!! I’ve never tried Greek yogurt in my oatmeal, but I bet you are totally right – it would be wonderfully smooth and creamy! I’m thinking this will be on my breakfast table soon!! :) Pinning!!

    • You were smart! They never were the best and nothing like REAL, FRESH Strawberries. Sadly, at the time I didn’t know any better. Thankfully, I do now! Strawberries N’ Cream Oatmeal with the fresh strawberries and greek yogurt is so delicious! I easily could have eaten my serving and all the others too 😀

  3. I loved those little quaker instant oatmeal packets too! Cinnamon apple and peaches and cream were my favorite! I bet this is much healthier though. I can’t wait to try!

  4. I’ve never been a big breakfast person. I don’t know why. And I totally never got into oatmeal… but I guess b/c I was not a fan of the instant oatmeal and farina my mom would always try making. I need to try it again… from scratch. This recipe sounds fantastic. Maybe it’ll be my stepping stone into a world of oatmeal love!

    • So you don’t eat anything or just not excited about it? I’m not a fan of plain oatmeal, but jazz it up a bit and it’s wonderful 😀

  5. Love the colours in these photos! It’s breakfast time right now so this is definitely making me hungry. Great idea to put strawberries and Greek yoghurt in oatmeal – I’m always looking for ways to ‘jazz up’ my morning oats!

    • Thanks Helen! You should definitely try the greek yogurt on oatmeal. It adds delicious flavor and creaminess. 😀

  6. I just bought strawberries tonight! might give this a go!

These definitely look much better than those Quaker packets! I love those fresh strawberries on top, and the addition of extra protein in the form of yogurt is genius. What a perfect breakfast! I’d love to go to bed knowing that I’d be having these for breakfast when I wake up! Lovely :–)

  10. Sometimes I have a hard time sleeping because I’m so excited for breakfast 😉

  11. My son loves the instant oatmeal packets however I do not love all the additives and food dyes. I am hoping I can win him over with this, strawberry and cream is his favorite. Thanks for sharing how to make this nostalgic food, so much more nourishing!
