Summer is definitely grilling season around our house. 4 out of our last 7 meals have been grilled. I love the flavor grilling gives to foods. On my last shopping trip, I found some Mahi Mahi and knew right away what I was going to do with it…fish tacos. Okay, I have to admit the first time I heard of fish tacos and did not think I’d ever eat one. Seriously, I’m from Texas and we put meat in tacos so, I never thought I’d be loving this combination. How wrong was I?! These little guys are addictive! There many variations of fish tacos. I prefer grilled fish over fried and I like corn tortillas over flour tortillas. Here is my version…
- ½ cup fresh lime juice
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- ½ Tbsp chili powder
- 4- 4 oz Mahi Mahi fillets
- 8 corn tortillas
- 12 oz bag broccoli slaw
- ½ cup cilantro, chopped
- 1 Tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- 1 cup non-fat, plain Greek Yogurt
- 2 tsp chipotle chiles, minced
- ½ fresh lime, juiced
- Combine slaw mix, cilantro, olive oil, rice vinegar. Toss to coat. Season with salt. Chill until ready to serve.
- Mix lime juice and olive oil in a container large enough to hold fish filets. Place fillets in liquid and sprinkle with chili powder. Flip fillets to coat both sides.
- Grill over medium heat for 4-6 minutes or until flaky.
- Heat corn tortillas in a medium skillet over medium-high heat.
- Serve tacos with broccoli slaw and top with sauce.
Mahi Mahi
Mahi Mahi is a whitefish with a mild flavor. It is a great source of lean protein, it is loaded with vitamins and minerals, and low in fat. Mahi Mahi is also a good source of the Omega-3’s, EPA and DHA. Omega fatty acids are essential fatty acids because they can not be made by our bodies, we have to get them from foods. They are important for the structure of our cell walls. Omega 3’s are heart healthy fats that help reduce the build-up of plaque in our arteries.
Omega-3 fatty acids are converted to eicosonoids. Eicosonoids from Omega-3′s are hormone-like compounds that help regulate blood pressure, blood clotting, aid in growth and development of cells, needed for vision, brain development, and maturation of nerves.

Most fish tacos are served with a cabbage slaw. I opted for Broccoli Slaw, a mix of broccoli, red cabbage and carrots to increase the nutrients in our meal. It was a great choice 😀
I almost didn’t make a sauce for these, but I love a topping. 😀 I used some chipotle chiles in adobo sauce for some heat and mixed them with some greek yogurt. Yum! This sauce is so delicious!
These Grilled Mahi Mahi Tacos are perfect for an al fresco dinner. They are delicious and flavorful! I love the crunch of the broccoli slaw in this taco. The Mahi Mahi is light and flaky, with the perfect amount of spicy heat. A final layer of creamy smoky flavor is added with the greek yogurt and chipotle chile sauce. I can not get over this delicious flavor combination!

[…] If you like ranch dressing and a little spice, you will love this Jalapeno Ranch Salad Dressing. It is a creamy, zesty combination of jalapeño, cilantro, tomatillo, and yogurt. I love using yogurt for making salad dressings and dips, you get the creaminess of mayonnaise without the fat. I use this dressing for salads, as a dip, and have found it is delicious on these fish tacos. […]
