Say hello to Home Taco Seasoning and good-bye to those store-bought packets! This is the BEST taco seasoning ever.
It contains nothing artificial nor any weird preservatives.
What it does have is Authentic Mexican flavor!
Making your very own seasoning mix is so easy and you know exactly what you are eating. Unlike those packets, I love that you can control the sodium, spiciness, and overall flavor to your own liking.
Those store-bought packets are made to live on a shelf for a long time, so they have to add ingredients to make them last. I don’t know about you, but that kind of creeps me out. You know like food that never browns or those French fries that never rot. What is in that stuff?
Store your seasoning mix in an airtight container. Since there aren’t any preservatives or fillers it will “cake up” in the jar. No biggie, just give it a little stir when you are ready to use it.
I always have this on hand and use it for any recipe that calls for taco seasoning. I use 2 tablespoons of seasoning for every pound of meat. I suggest you taste the meat as it cooks and decide from there if it needs more depending on what type of meat you are using. I mainly use ground turkey and 2 tablespoons is perfect.
I’ve got one awesome recipe coming up that uses this seasoning, so stay tuned!
