I’m happy to start a new week. It always seems that when my husband is away things start to go wrong.
Last week started with an early wake-up by my son. He was trying to get the trash can out, but he garage doors would not open. Neither door seemed to be receiving power. This has never happened before. I checked the breaker panel and all seemed okay. We had a big thunderstorm the night before, so I thought maybe it had something to do with that. But, all the other outlets and lights were working. So, I released the safety and manually opened the door for him. Trash can made it outside for pickup. Crisis averted!
Then, I got a text from my friend that we carpool with for soccer. His son wasn’t going to practice. Now, I need to drive. I need to get my car out of the garage. Great!
I started thinking if an outlet isn’t working maybe a GFCI that “popped” somewhere. I’m not sure how they are all connected, so I go through the house to check the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. Nope those were all good. I remember there is an outlet outside…nope. I’m feeling stumped and then I remember there are a couple GFCI outlets in the garage. Sure enough the one near the breaker panel was tripped. I reset the outlet and we are free!
The next day, I woke up to the sound of a smoke detector beeping. I know that means the battery needs replacing. I’m walking around the house searching for the beep. I finally locate the noise-maker. Of course, I don’t have a single 9-volt battery in the house. It seemed the longer it beeped, the more aware I became of the noise. I can’t take it and head to the store.
Then the following day, my son casually says I think something is wrong with our toilet. The water keeps rising. Oh geez!
I head up to check it out and the toilet wouldn’t flush. I’m not even sure we own a plunger. I dig around the garage and luckily find one. Thank goodness, because I was already thinking I’m going to have to go to Home Depot. That means I’ll have to buy a whole bunch of other things to camouflage buying a plunger!
Using a plunger shouldn’t be complicated, but it took me much longer than I’d like to admit to finally get that thing to flush.
Thankfully, the following days were issue free!
So, a fresh start to a new week calls for a smoothie. Whenever I’m not quite feeling like myself, I’ll make a smoothie. Suddenly, the world feels right again! 😀
I have lots of smoothie combinations that I love to make, but wanted something new. I’m thinking green smoothie. I know I want to use a mango for the smoothie. I grab some spinach, blueberries, Greek yogurt, and a banana.
This is one nutrient rich smoothie. My green smoothie didn’t turn out green at all. There are tiny specks of green, but the blueberries and mango won the color battle.
Even if you can’t see the color, you know you are getting great benefits from that spinach.
Spinach is full of antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene. Plus it has vitamin A, K, iron, folate, manganese, zinc, and selenium.
Spinach also has two carotenoids, lutein and zeaxanthin. These antioxidants aid in vision and help prevent age-related macular degeneration.
I love the flavors of this smoothie! The blueberries and mango pair perfectly to create a deliciously fruity smoothie that is light and refreshing.
